Gill Playne is Editorial Director of Playne Books with whom she has been working for over twenty years and a professional author and editor for over 40 years. As Gill Davies, she writes children’s and adults’ books and is also an editor, copywriter, journalist and editorial consultant.
In 1964, Gill had her first story accepted. Now over 300 books by Gill have been published by 40 or so companies – including A&C Black, Brimax Books, Brown Watson, Edicart, HarperCollins, Hodder & Stoughton, Black Dog & Leventhal, Parragon, Reader’s Digest, St Martin’s Press, World International, Scholastic, Templar Books, and Watson-Guptill. The BBC have broadcast two stories and two interviews about Gill's writing and theatre production.
David Playne NDD FCSD PP + HFISTD set up his own business, Playne Design, on 1st May 1968. He founded Playne Books in 1987 and Playne Books Limited in 1996 and looks after Design and Production.
Over 15 million books have been sold designed by David.
David has served as a part-time lecturer on graphic design and as an advisor to several colleges and universities.
He is Past President and Honorary Fellow of the International Society of Typographic Designers; a Fellow of the Chartered Society of Designers; and Past Vice President and Treasurer of icograda (International Council of Graphic Design Associations).
